As an Underwriting analyst, you will review and analyze merchant applications to qualify their credit worthiness. You will follow all Nuvei appropriate credit policies and ensure compliance with boarding guidelines to mitigate overall financial and reputational risk exposures. You will be actively engaged with the Loss Prevention and Sales teams to identify risk and market trends. The successful candidate will have credit/underwriting experience and knowledge, preferably within a payment processing environment.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Verifies merchant application information, coordinating the collection of missing data and documentation. Analyzes and underwrites new merchant applications using different Underwriting tools Re-evaluate existing merchant accounts as requested by the other internal departments
  • Work with partners and merchants to ensure compliance with various industry requirements and communicate adequately underwriting decisions and associated policies.
  • Answer internal and external inquiries with regard to Underwriting issues
  • Contributes to regular staff meetings to discuss merchant accounts, trends, losses, etc. Present ideas to management for continuous improvement of procedures and efficiencies
  • Perform other tasks/duties as assigned
  • Associate degree required. Bachelor’ degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in Underwriting preferred.
  • Experience in bank or bankcard industry an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, multitasking and good business sense.
  • Must be a disciplined self-starter and demonstrate integrity, dependability, responsibility, work ethic, self-awareness and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Venture Team reporting to Venture Principal

Half-time in-office and work from home

Get to know all of the 1,000 startups in our portfolio and build up a massive bank of karma by connecting them to investors, customers and celebrities who come to Capital Factory looking for introductions. 

As a Venture Analyst, you’ll have access to the master database of every startup we have invested in and respond to requests from venture capitalists, corporate partners, government agencies, press, and other partners who want to work with them. By the end of 12 months, you’ll have a good sense of who all the best startups in Texas are and what attributes investors and customers are looking for. This role naturally leads to a promotion to Venture Associate, Sales Associate, or working directly for one of the startups.

What you will do...

  • Create curated lists of startups in response to inbound requests from investors, customers, partners, and visitors of Capital Factory.
  • Get to know the startups “beyond their profile description” by attending meetings such as, but not limited to, pitch events, office hours, investor meetings, and customer success meetings so that you can make better recommendations.
  • Attend and support meetings where you will be expected to create curated lists in real-time for investors and customers.
  • Keep our database of startups up-to-date with the latest contact information and company metrics.
  • Log all interactions and notes in our CRM.

You’ll know you are successful if…

  • All curation requests are responded to within one business day.
  • You can build curated lists in your head without searching the database.
  • Startup founders in our portfolio know you by name.
  • You respond to all portfolio update emails within one business day,
  • Your introductions lead to real business for the startups. 
  • You get promoted to a Venture Associate or one of our startups hires you.

About you…

  • You have experience working with databases, automation, and specifically Airtable.
  • You have a passion for learning about new startups and emerging technology.
  • You are outgoing and can talk to just about anyone.
  • You are a documentor. You make lists and spreadsheets.
  • You are a problem solver. You look for ways to make things work better and how to turn chaos into systems.
  • You are organized and plan ahead, but you don’t get stressed out when things change at the last minute… because they will. You roll with it.
  • You check your email in the evenings and are available to work during evening events and over the weekends when there is a tight deadline. You do what it takes to get the job done.
  • You have a reliable laptop computer & smartphone that you are comfortable using for work.
  • You plan to stay in Texas for at least one year.

Qualifications

  • Vous justifiez d’une expérience réussie de 2 ans minimum dans la commercialisation de produits financiers.
  • Vous êtes commercial(e) dans l’âme et avez une grande aisance relationnelle.
  • Votre exigence, votre ténacité et votre autonomie vous permettent d’atteindre vos objectifs.
