We are looking for a Senior Technical Writer, talented as a developer documentation specialist with strong technical skills, and a strong sense of developer needs, combining vision, entrepreneurship. This individual will be instrumental in scaling our technical documentation platform and improving the quality, clarity, and usability of our technical documentation for developers worldwide.  

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Own the developer documentation for internal and external development teams who are building experiences and extending our platform.  Including:system architecture documents, integration guides, API documentation, and troubleshooting guides, etc. 
  • Craft content to help developers understand the fundamentals of the platform. 
  • Craft onboarding guides to help internal and external developers quickly get up to speed. 
  • Work closely with Developer Ecosystem engineering to ensure API and SDK reference documentation is clear and usable by internal and external engineers. 
  • Craft recipes so developers can quickly perform common jobs. 
  • Integrate with the capabilities of the documentation platform to allow internal and external developers to ‘try’ the API  
  • Measure the engagement of the documentation and determine where to invest to improve core developer engagement KPIs. 
  • Coordinate cross-functionally and align day-to-day priorities with high-level Product delivery and execution strategy. 
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure documentation reflects current coding standards, structures, and changes. 
  • Develop systems and procedures designed to enhance the productivity of our Technical Writer team and scale their impact. Develop and enforce technical documentation standards, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to best practices. 
  • Set a 3 year vision for technical documentation and developer experience. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools, and platforms in the areas of architecture, transaction processing, and telephony systems to continuously improve documentation quality. 
  • Include in documentation: applicable screenshots with labels and deep descriptions, logical flow diagrams,decisioning algorithms, rule engines, and their integration with business processes 
  • Produce well-written release notes on new features calling out interdependencies and replacement of previous capabilities. 
  • Produce benchmarking data describing the capacities of features and platform overall. 
  • Regardless of management and reporting this individual will be integral to the Product & Technology team and part of the overall software development lifecycle. 

Requirements 

  • At least 2+ years of experience with a programming language such as JavaScript, React, or Python 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing in a software development environment. 
  • Technical domain expertise,Telephony Systems: Experience creating and maintaining technical content related to telephony infrastructure, including call flow, routing, VoIP protocols, and hardware components. 
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills. 
  • Experience ideating, innovating, and improving technology platforms (especially documentation platforms) 
  • Expertise working closely with engineering and product teams to shape a developer experience around documentation 
  • Expertise in collaborating with cross-functional partners 
  • Deep understanding of developers, developer technologies, and developer communities

What you’ll do:

  • Designs, configures, develops, tests, and supports informatics and data science solutions for a wide array of technical use cases;

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 8+ years experience conducting statistical analyses on large datasets and deep domain knowledge in machine learning. 
    • This could mean either a MS or PhD in a quantitative field with at least 5 years experience in a business environment, or BS or Data Science Bootcamp graduate with at least 8 years of experience working as a data scientist or a machine learning engineer in a business setting.
  • Experience applying a variety of statistical and modeling techniques using Python, R or another statistical modeling language, as indicated by familiarity with many of the following techniques - predictive modeling, anomaly detection, ensemble methods, natural language processing (NLP, optional).
  • Strong programming skills - comfortable with all phases of the data science development process, from initial analysis and model development all the way through to deployment
  • Excellent communication skills - able to effectively deliver findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling fashion
  • PhD or Masters plus equivalent experience in a quantitative field is a plus
  • Experience in the Fintech industry or risk management domain is a plus

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $195,000-$241,000/year in New York and $177,00- $219,000/year CAD in Toronto. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 daysper week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Qualifications

  • Issu(e) d’une formation supérieure (école d’ingénieur, master,…)
  • Vous disposez d’au moins 15 années d’expérience dans le domaine du Big Data, dans le management d'équipe, dans l'avant-vente et le développement des offres
  • Vous maîtrisez le développement logiciel (Scala, Python …), et vous disposez de solides expériences dans la mise en place de pipelines de données
  • Vous maîtrisez le Framework Spark (idéalement sur Databricks) et son optimisation
  • Expérience sur une plateforme Cloud serait un plus et idéalement AWS

We are seeking a skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team and play a role in the evolution of the team to a full GitOps model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps with a focus on security, experience in managing containerized infrastructures, and a deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our software security product by using your expertise in DevOps practices and tooling. You will work closely with our engineering, product, and security teams to develop and implement best practices for building, testing, and deploying applications and microservices.

Key Aspects of Role:

  • Utilize AWS services to design scalable cloud solutions that support critical systems.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure monitoring and alerting is in place, enabling consistent, scalable, and automated service delivery.
  • Develop and improve monitoring and alerting solutions to guarantee the reliability of applications and services, using tools like Datadog and Sumologic.
  • Lead efforts to automate infrastructure deployment and management using Terraform, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native tools.
  • Create automated incident response workflows to handle common infrastructure and application issues.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure systems adhere to industry-standard security practices and policies.
  • Document and train engineering teams on best practices in reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations to respond to incidents, triage production issues.
  • Contribute to incident and process post-mortems.
  • Ensure uptime, SLAs, and availability of critical platform components through process improvements and automation.
  • Monitor existing application and infrastructure while working to improve existing monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and management.
  • Develop and support processes to maintain uptime, SLAs and availability of critical platform components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to systems, network, and application.
  • Ensure that our systems and processes adhere to industry-standard security practices and policies.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or related/relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years working in a SRE, DevOps, Cloud Engineering or similar role.
  • Experience with AWS and automation tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
  • Proficiency with observability, monitoring, and alerting tools (Datadog, Sumologic, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and repository management tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub).
  • Strong programming skills for automation (Python, Go, or similar languages).
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) and GitOps methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting production environments and improving system reliability. 
  • Experience with on-call/incident management systems such as PagerDuty, VictorOps or OpsGenie.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with service meshes (e.g., Istio) to enhance application observability and security.
  • Familiarity with advanced Kubernetes features (e.g., StatefulSets, Helm, Operators).
  • Knowledge of database management and migration processes, including RDS and DMS

Overview of the Data Engineering team: 

At Zego the Data Engineering team is integral to our data platform, working closely with Software Engineers, Data Scientists and Data Analysts along with other areas of the business. We use a variety of internal and external tooling to maintain our data repositories. We are looking for people who have a solid understanding of ETL and ELT paradigms, are comfortable using Python and SQL, hold an appreciation for good software engineering and data infrastructure principles, are eager to work with complex and fast growing datasets, reflect a strong desire to learn and are able to communicate well.

Our stack involves but is not limited to Airflow, Data Build Tool (DBT), a multitude of AWS services, Stitch and CICD pipelines. As a Data Engineer you will have the opportunity to promote emerging technologies where they can add value to the business and promote better ways of working.

Over the next 12 months you will:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining our ETL and ELT pipelines.
  • Support our data scientists in the development and implementation of our ML pricing models and experiments.
  • Help drive and evolve the architecture of our data ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with product managers and across teams to bring new products and features to the market.
  • Help drive data as a product, by growing our data platform with a focus on strong data modelling, quality, usage and efficiency.
  • Build tailored data replication pipelines as our backend application is broken into microservices.

About you

We are looking for somebody with a working knowledge of building data pipelines and the underlying infrastructure. Experience in data warehouse design undertakings, following best practices during implementation is a big plus. You have worked with (or are keen to do so) Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Software Engineers.

Practical knowledge of (or strong desire to learn) the following or similar technologies:

  • Python
  • Airflow
  • Databases (PostgreSQL)
  • Data Warehousing (Redshift / Snowflake)
  • SQL (We use DBT for modelling data in the warehouse)
  • Data Architecture including Dimensional Modelling
  • Experience in using infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Terraform)

Otherwise an interest in learning these, with the support of the team, is essential. We're looking for people with a commitment to building, nurturing, and iterating on an ever-evolving data ecosystem.

Other beneficial skills include:

  • Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes (EKS)
