As a member of the Progress Federal Solutions Presales Engineering Team, you will provide technical and product expertise to support the sales team in achieving sales revenue goals. In this role, you will lead technical conversations with customers and partners and provide insights on solution design and implementation. Occasional travel, up to 20%, may be required.
 
In this role, you will:
  • Articulate the technical and commercial benefits, ROI, and TCO of our solutions to diverse stakeholders
  • Conduct in-depth product demonstrations during customer and partner meetings, workshops, webinars, and seminars
  • Focus on solution-based sales, tailoring approaches to client-specific needs
  • Design, implement, and execute Proofs of Concept (POCs) to showcase solution effectiveness.
  • Provide training and product demonstrations for customers and partners
  • Maintain and create demo environments for internal and external presentations
  • Act as a technical liaison between Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams
  • Support trial customers and partners with hands-on technical expertise
  • Contribute to internal projects, aligning with sales targets and organizational goals
  • Attend occasional conferences with the team, support booth efforts and present cool stuff you’ve built if you get the chance
  • Leverage geospatial technologies to visualize, analyze, and manage data using tools like OpenLayers, Leaflet, and MapLibre
  • Assist with short term engagements on customer site as needed
 
Your background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 10 years’ experience in a Pre-Sales or technical consultancy role
  • Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the position and subsidiary status.
  • Strong skills in JavaScript frameworks (React, AngularJS, VueJS) and modern UI/UX principles
  • In-depth knowledge of REST APIs, mapping libraries (e.g., OpenLayers, Leaflet), and geospatial data
  • Experience with Cloud and Hybrid architectures, including AWS and Azure services
  • Occasionally dream in NodeJS
  • Understand the 3-tier web stack
  • Proficiency with network protocols (e.g., TLS, HTTP/S, DNS, SSH) and systems management
  • History with design and implementation of solutions integrating mapping data and interactive visualizations to support decision-making in federal and enterprise environments
  • Familiar with PKI, including hard tokens such as PIV, CAC
  • Ability to deliver technical and business presentations to varied audiences
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies, with a proven track record of managing technical projects
  • Experience mentoring team members and supporting professional development
  • Excellent communication skills, including business writing and presentation
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to varying customer needs
 
Additionally, it would be beneficial if you have:
  • Familiarity with Federal or DoD environments
  • Comfortable with MarkLogic and / or other Multi-model and NOSQL databases
  • Experience serving customer-focused roles involving professional services and Pre-Sales engineering
  • Knowledge of modern security practices

Responsibilities

  • Contribute working code, documentation, and automated tests that deliver on Sprint goals

Overview

This position is fully remote.

Primary duties

  • Architect and build highly available, extensible, and scalable platform primitives and REST APIs for external and internal customers
  • Take ownership and be creative with your solutions as you help deliver excellent products to our customers
  • Contribute to the health of the team through honest and direct feedback as we iterate and improve on our processes
  • Guide your team to make optimal technical and product design decisions
  • Identify and execute on points of scale in order to maximize throughput and efficiency

Requirements

  • A proven career as a software engineer developing backend applications and APIs, hands-on experience using Golang and Python. SaaS experience preferred
  • Experience with or exposure to migration off a monolithic architecture a plus
  • Familiarity with building, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS services using Terraform
  • Expertise in NoSQL and SQL, and experience with database modeling (Postgres)
  • Experience building modular, flexible architectures (maximizing readability and extensibility)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building great products (high growth, early stage tech preferred)
  • Experience coaching and mentoring engineers

    Job Description

    Join our remote team as a Data Architect where you can share inventive ways to support federal clients modernizing their data practices. You will help guide the development of processes supporting data architecture, data management, and data governance.

    Position Duties:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions.
    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data models, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
    • Define data standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure the quality and security of the data architecture.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions into business processes and applications.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture.
    • Create data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to document the data architecture and ensure data integrity and consistency.
    • Analyze and suggest improvements to an organization’s data governance and data management processes.
    • Collaborate with business users and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into architectural designs.
    • Provide guidance and expertise on process adoption and stakeholder collaboration, specifically around data management.
    • Develop reports/presentations and present to management and business users on data architecture and data governance topics.

    Qualifications

    Required Skillset:

    • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in fields of data management and data architecture
    • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
    • Knowledge of data integration techniques and tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience in data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
    • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques, data governance concepts, and database design principles

    Desired Skillset:

    • Experience working with the Federal Government.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
    • Experience working with Agile Teams utilizing Scrum.

    Education:

    • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field of study.

    Clearance Requirement:

    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
    • U.S. Citizenship Required
