About the Team 

The Technical Program Management team is an integral part of the Instacart Engineering organization. We bring teams together to tackle big problems and lead Instacart’s products, platform, and operational excellence forward. Our work and its impact span the multi-sided marketplace, from connecting customers with coupons and deals for their favorite brands, unlocking new ways to shop for and deliver groceries, to evolving our ML/AI and data infrastructure at Instacart, and more. ABOUT THE JOB

  • Lead the planning and high quality technical execution of large sized engineering programs with high degree of ambiguity, complexity, and visibility demonstrating a strong sense of urgency, efficiency, and ownership.
  • Work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, Data Scientists and other cross-functional partners  to set project objectives and metric-based success criteria. Drive definition of project requirements and execution plans, and manage an overall program's progress and outcome.
  • Own clear and effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring alignment on and awareness of priorities, risks, and changes. 
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and shared goals, creating a collaborative team environment and driving the right level of process to ensure efficiency and high quality delivery within the program team.
  • Contribute broadly to Instacart’s success by suggesting and driving organization-wide initiatives.

 

 

ABOUT YOU

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience post-graduation in a technology field, preferably as a technical program or project manager, product manager, software engineer (technical domain), or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to create functional specs, set program structure and influence program strategy. Previous experience in managing complex multi-org programs end-to-end, from definition to launch, throughout a software development lifecycle.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to distill multiple streams of information, convey priorities and risks, and build a narrative for stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of ownership and intellectual curiosity to understand executional and technical problems in depth, identify potential issues and offer actions to prevent them.
  • Excellent collaborator and motivator, able to bring a team together to align and deliver on a common goal. Can build trust and partnerships with senior Engineering and Product leaders.
  • Growth mindset - seeks and is receptive to actionable feedback and growth opportunities.
  • Takes accountability seriously; can operate independently to deliver responsibilities and milestones on time and within budget.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology / engineering discipline.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a technology/engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to showcase deep technical domain knowledge on the programs that you take on, enabling you to be seen as a strong technical voice in the program and adding significant value towards architecting a program. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive architectural and strategic decisions at the org leadership level.
  • Extensive previous experience around creating innovative program management processes/tools/approaches to deliver company outcomes reliably and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role 
  • Experience with incident response management and information security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, etc.), with additional knowledge of quantum-safe protocols. 
  • Strong understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, including emerging threats and effective countermeasures. 
  • Proven work experience as a System Security Engineer or Information Security Engineer 
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems 
  • Hands on experience in firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc. 
  • Experience with network security and networking technologies  
  • Strong background with system, security, and network monitoring tools 
  • Familiarity with various compliance such as PCI-DSS, SOC 1, SOC 2, GDPR among others. 
  • Exposure to the payment card or financial industries. 
  • Strong background in software architecture and software engineering.  
  • Technical knowledge of database and operating system security 


Preferred Education and Experience:  

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Build technical expertise across the firm in these tools and be responsible for continuing education around the same.
  • Determine new technologies as they pertain to design automation, computational and parametric design & machine learning for the AEC environment and build firm technical expertise around this approach.
  • Work with management to prioritize new business models.
  • Drive research and development into emerging technologies as they filter across the AEC industry
  • Be an internal and external thought leader on related topics.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree Interactive Media Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related fields required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • A total of 6 years of related experience required which includes:
    • 4 years of experience with Grasshopper, Dynamo, Autodesk Forge platforms required.
    • 4 years of experience Python, C# preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the AEC industry.
  • Business acumen and ability to execute strategy.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collect, organize and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and lead a team.
 
The salary range for this position is $83,600 to $104,500 annually.  This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. Your impact

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will help tackle some of Grammarly’s biggest Engineering challenges. In this role, you will:

  • Work on end-to-end Engineering challenges directly related to your team’s high-level goals.
  • Ship code in your first week after orientation!
  • Iterate quickly in a fast-paced environment and leverage your unique point of view to share feedback on product direction.
  • Partner with a mentor to scope, design, and execute a fully formed project throughout your internship. 
  • Collaborate with a strong team of professionals from whom you can learn on a daily basis, especially with a mentor. 
  • Get your hands on various APIs, frameworks, and programming languages. 
  • Learn from all the challenges that come from shipping a product to tens of millions of daily active users.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Is available for the entire duration of a twelve-week program.
  • Is currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Is passionate about Grammarly’s mission—improving lives by improving communication.
  • Has strong computer science fundamentals: CS fundamentals can come from being self-taught, previous internships, what you’ve learned at school, passion projects, and more. However you got there, it’s great for us! 
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, especially as it relates to technical collaboration.
  • Has proficiency in at least one programming language (Grammarly’s Engineering tech stack includes Java, JavaScript, C#, Python or Go but feel free to apply if your specialty is different!).
  • For Security interns: Familiarity with common security vulnerabilities and mitigation (OWAS Top 10) is required.

The School Improvement Portfolio is one of six portfolios of work in the US division, and is focused on understanding, improving and transforming education systems and educational practice through the use of evidence and continuous learning. We do so by conducting research and evaluation and providing technical assistance in K-12 education, higher education, and adult education in both formal and informal settings in partnership with federal and state agencies, schools and school districts, community-based organizations, foundations and other research and non-profit organizations.

The primary project for this Senior Research Scientist is the Regional Educational Laboratory Northeast & Islands. The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Northeast and Islands translates research to practice in partnership with policymakers and practitioners in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Vermont.  The ten Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs) around the United States work in partnership to conduct applied research and trainings with a mission of supporting a more evidence-based education system.

Essential Functions

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

The Senior Research Scientist:

  • Contributes substantially to the organization’s intellectual capital; has an established reputation as a leader in the field
  • Guides the shaping of Applied Research projects on a large federal contract, specifically to maximize their ability to contribute to the attainment of partnership outcomes while also contributing to the broader research literature on the topic; is responsible for initiation and execution of projects of large scope & diversity, or may direct multiple complex projects
  • Exercises leadership and advanced expertise in qualitative &/or quantitative research methods
  • Oversees data collection & validation processes, ensuring quality & reliability; monitors project timelines, ensuring that teams will meet deliverable due dates on time
