About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role

  • Overseeing architectural improvements to our backend systems in line with our forward planning and technology strategy

About You and How You Can Excel in This Role
For our products we use a variety of backend technologies with Django being the key framework used to provide the API to our Angular based user interface.  For this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of both Python and Django and be excited to apply that knowledge in creation of applications and APIs to fulfill the requirements of our planned SaaS platform in 2025.  You will be eager to understand the full set of application technologies already applied in existing applications and make best use of that extensive toolkit and broad range of AWS services in building out new features or products.
Required
•    Industry experience in working with Agile software development practices
•    To show leadership experience in prior projects or teams
•    A deep understanding and commercial experience of Python and Django
•    Good understanding of frontend web technologies and how web browsers behave and perform
•    Very knowledgeable in REST APIs, both in authoring and consuming
•    Good level of experience in SQL and database interaction
•    Knowledge and experience in applying Web Security best practices
•    Good understanding of git and working collaboratively on team-level code bases

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) working as a PLSQL Developer.
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle PLSQL, including triggers, packages, procedures, and functions.
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) processes and tools.
  • Experience with ETL tools like Celigo, Informatica, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript or Python.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and working with large datasets.
  • Experience with performance tuning and query optimization in Oracle databases.
  • Strong understanding of data integration processes, ETL, and data quality.

About the Job

The Support Technical Engineer will join the software development team in supporting content publishing by working with both engineering and content developers to get the content to the databases and environments for testing and production via CI/CD operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide data support working within tight deadlines

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams within Brightcove's video cloud, including Video Catalog, Delivery, Playback and Encoding teams.  
  • Continuously optimize the ingestion pipeline for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Success team to respond to customer requests, questions, and issues.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to help resolve customer-facing problems in a timely manner.

Qualifications/Experience 

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Proficient in Go (Golang) and building RESTful APIs.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerization using Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with JSON data formats and parsing.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Node.js, or JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, SQS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
  • Ability to write unit, integration, and performance tests.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Java.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools like Jenkins.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with media processing and video streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and digital asset management.

Overview:

You will: 

  • Develop and implement test plans and test cases according to project requirements and specifications.
  • Identify, document, and monitor software defects and inconsistencies.
  • Conduct regression testing, smoke testing, and exploratory testing.
  • Ensure thorough investigation, documentation, and resolution of all reported issues.
  • Ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Effectively communicating testing progress, problems, and suggestions for improvement to management, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Participate in test planning and estimation activities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results and testing progress.
  • Continuously enhance testing processes and methodologies.
  • Keep up with the most recent developments and industry best practices in quality assurance. 
  • Help the test automation team incorporate more automated tests into the testing procedure to increase the amount of automated test coverage.

You have:

  • Minimum of four years of experience as a QA Engineer, mostly engaged in manual testing.
  • A track record of success in manual testing or a related QA position.
  • Solid understanding of QA procedures and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to write precise, succinct, and thorough test plans and cases.
  • Expertise with a range of testing methodologies and approaches, such as regression, smoke, and functional testing.
  • Knowledge of test management and problem-tracking systems such as Jira
  • Familiarity with Postman and other API testing tools.
  • Understanding of the Scrum and Agile techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A keen eye for detail and excellent planning abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in executing tasks in a collaborative setting.
  • Fundamental understanding of automated testing methods and tools.
  • Some of the good-to-have qualifications
  • A plus is having ISTQB certification or an equivalent.
  • Understanding of one or more of the following:
