Lumos Identity is hiring a Remote Head of Product

In 2011, Marc Andreessen famously said, “Software is eating the world.” 10+ years later, software hasn’t just nibbled, it has indulged in a lavish ten-course feast at a Michelin star restaurant. From Slack to Zoom to Figma, software is embedded in every company’s DNA. And while most just get to enjoy the benefits, there is one unsung hero behind it all: ????‍♀️ IT ????‍♀️

While being flooded with never ending IT tickets, they are also making sure Guy Fieri in Sales doesn’t buy yet another tool “promising” a 103% lead conversion rate. And burying themselves in spreadsheets to prepare the SOC2 report for when Gordon Ramsey from the Big 4 comes knocking. And can’t forget about Julia Child, the newest on-call engineer, who needs access to prod DB to investigate an incident. All of these workstreams are among spreadsheets, emails, Slack messages, and Zoom calls. But those days are numbered.

✨ Let there be Lumos

Lumos is building the first AppHQ for companies. In essence, we are creating the meta app, the source-of-truth for companies to manage all their apps.

Why Lumos?

  • ???? Rocketship Growth: In less than two years, our team has grown from 20 to ~80 brilliant minds across Canada, the United States and South America. Our customer base has more than 10x’d with some pretty incredible names like SiriusXM, GitHub, and Intercom.
  • ???? Backed by Industry Leaders: Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has backed us since the beginning. We have a team of trusted advisors including Joel De La Garza (partner at a16z and previous Chief Security Officer at Box) and Leland Maschmeyer (the design thinker behind Spotify and Microsoft)
  • ⭐ Grow with us: You have the chance to be one of the first 100 people at Lumos. At Lumos, you will build your function from the ground up, get exposure to different aspects of the business developing a diverse skill set, and most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to pave your own path.

We are rewriting the IT playbook, one that better reflects our software eaten world.

As our Head of Product, you will take on one of the most critical roles at Lumos: leading and transforming our product suite into a truly differentiated offering that our users love and cannot live without. This is an opportunity to define the product vision, build an exceptional product team, and establish processes that ensure our products consistently deliver value. You’ll work closely with engineering, marketing, and sales teams to drive innovation and execute our product strategy at one of the fastest-growing companies in Silicon Valley.

Your Responsibilities

  • Product Development Process Owner: You'll be responsible for establishing and standardizing the product development process across Lumos. From product discovery to launch, your leadership will ensure efficient product development and a strong GTM impact, fostering alignment between engineering and GTM teams.
  • Product Team Builder: You will rapidly hire and mentor top-tier PMs, developing them into high-performing leaders. You’ll cultivate a culture of accountability, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring the product team is a driving force within the company.
  • Strategic Vision Communicator: As the strategic voice of our product vision, you will clearly communicate the direction and priorities to all teams. Your ability to distill and convey this vision will ensure alignment, confidence, and focus across the organization.
  • Technical Expert and GTM Strategist: You will dive deep into technical details and guide the company through critical trade-offs. Simultaneously, your strong GTM acumen will drive innovative product decisions that boost both pre-sales engagement and post-sales customer satisfaction.

Notion is hiring a Remote Template Creator (Contract)

About Us:

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.

About The Role

Notion is an incredibly powerful set of building blocks that can be used to build nearly anything, from personal dashboards to all-in-one student setups to entire companies-in-a-box. However, given all this power, it can be hard for Notion users (new and experienced users alike) to know what to do with Notion and how to do it. We believe that templates allow us to “show, not tell” users about the power of Notion. We’re looking to hire amazing folks who are excited about building in Notion to help show the world the amazing things you can build using Notion.

As a part of the broader Templates + Marketplace Ops team at Notion, you will help us create, source, and showcase templates that highlight the best of Notion. By understanding the full power of Notion and the needs of our various user groups, you’ll help us launch new templates + web pages that make it easy for users to get the most out of Notion, regardless of what their use case is. You’ll report into Notion’s Product organization, and work closely with engineering, product, design, marketing, and sales.

What You'll Achieve

  • Create high-quality Notion templates that we can share with our broader customer base
  • Write landing page copy and blurbs to help us publish templates and category pages
  • Help maintain and curate Notion’s template gallery
  • Talk to Notion users and gain an understanding of their pain points, building templates to solve their issues
  • Engage and work with Notion’s community to find awesome templates that we can showcase in our gallery

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • Passionate fans of Notion — use it for personal, student, and/or work life
    • Ideally have some Notion templates we can look at
  • Scrappiness: willing to work to get things done, at times skewing outside normal job descriptions
  • Good product design instincts: can build solutions to solve user problems
  • Basic software engineering background: databases + programming 101
  • Strong written skills: can write clear, useful copy for landing pages

Nice to Haves

  • Some Notion customer or product vertical you have unique insight into: some examples - startups, venture capital, creators, marketing teams, etc.
  • Existing Notion following or content: YouTube videos, newsletter, presence in forums, etc.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Notion.

Notion is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Notion considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Notion is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. About Ethos

Ethos was built to make it faster and easier to get life insurance for the next million families. Our approach blends industry expertise, technology, and the human touch to find you the right policy to protect your loved ones.

We leverage deep technology and data science to streamline the life insurance process, making it more accessible and convenient. Using predictive analytics, we are able to transform a traditionally multi-week process into a modern digital experience for our users that can take just minutes! We’ve issued billions in coverage each month and eliminated the traditional barriers, ushering the industry into the modern age. Our full-stack technology platform is the backbone of family financial health.

We make getting life insurance easier, faster and better for everyone.

Our investors include General Catalyst, Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, Google Ventures, SoftBank, and the investment vehicles of Jay-Z, Kevin Durant, Robert Downey Jr and others. This year, we were named on CB Insights' Global Insurtech 50 list and BuiltIn's Top 100 Midsize Companies in San Francisco. We are scaling quickly and looking for passionate people to protect the next million families!

    About the Role

Ethos is revolutionizing the life insurance industry by transforming a traditionally 8-week, agent-driven process into a seamless, primarily digital experience where customers can purchase Term Life insurance in under 8 minutes. The quality of our digital experience is paramount. We strive to replicate and surpass the core functions of a traditional agent-driven process — uncovering customer needs, explaining the application process, helping guide them through challenging coverage selection decisions, building trust in Ethos, and striking an emotional chord with users to motivate them to purchase immediately.

We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Content Designer to elevate our consumer experience through outstanding content, and help build the most delightful and highest-converting Life Insurance purchase experience in the industry, bar none.  You’ll work closely with our product and design teams to provide users clarity and motivation at every stage of their purchase journey, from the moment they land on our site to after they’ve purchased a life insurance policy. You’ll be embedded within agile teams, contributing to projects from the very beginning, and helping decide not only what to say, but how best to say it. You’ll also think about the bigger picture, ensuring our end-to-end journey is cohesive, and our tone of voice is consistent and aligned with our brand.

The work you do will have a direct, tangible impact on the bottom line, and leave an indelible mark on our users and their families.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead content design for several product teams. Partner with our PM, UX Design, and Research leads on our most important initiatives, helping take products from conception to launch. You will be deeply involved in product initiatives from the start.
    • Know your customers.
      • Understand what experiments have and haven’t worked in the past, and what we’ve learned from past user conversations. Conduct content discovery, including inventories, audits, and competitive research. Collaborate on card sorts, user surveys, interviews, and workshops.
      • Become an expert on the end-to-end Ethos life insurance purchase journey, individual features and their functionality, and existing content on the site.
    • Design, write, edit and test clear, compelling in-product language to help users and teams meet their goals.
      • This includes content on landing pages, onboarding flow, checkout, and post-purchase experiences, and overall site navigation.
      • You’ll contribute language that is not only functional (helping demystify complex life insurance concepts), but also emotional (motivating users to confront the risks their loved ones face, and purchase insurance.)
      • You’ll also ensure every microinteraction with the user is highly polished (e.g. tooltips, error states, navigation labels)
    • Craft a great end-to-end story for our users. You’ll ensure consistency in tone and voice across every consumer touchpoint, and seamless transitions from one step in the user journey to the next.
    • Collaborate closely with UX design on information hierarchy for complex features, helping convey the most important messages to users (especially on mobile devices.)
    • Test, evaluate, and improve your content. Use analytics, customer success data, and methods like A/B testing, readability testing, usability testing, and navigation model testing.
    • Level up the content design craft at Ethos. Create, contribute to, and evolve our standards, guidelines, methods, tools, and product review sessions.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • At least 5 years of content design experience, with at least 3 years designing content for direct-to-consumer products
    • Worked on language for products that has driven quantifiable metrics such as conversions and revenue per user

You should be a user-centric designer and problem solver, who is also excited to find simple, elegant solutions to meet our business goals. You are motivated and ego-free, and are constantly looking to improve, ideate and refine design.

This role will require a hands-on designer who is detail oriented, and driven to design intuitive user-focused experiences. You must feel comfortable being able to flex between being strategic and also executional, in addition to working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. You are comfortable at defining problems, ideating concepts and synthesizing data, with the ability to translate dense, complex information into pixel-perfect design and prototypes.

    You Will:

    • Lead Design: Design strong UX that simplifies complex logic through flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes as well as high-fidelity visual designs that elevate the look and feel of our product. Lead large projects or multiple initiatives concurrently with autonomy.

    • Champion the User: Advocate for our users by deeply understanding their needs, challenges, and behaviors. Through research, testing, and iteration, you’ll ensure that our products are not only easy to use but a joy to interact with. Participate in  customer research to develop a thorough understanding of our users’ needs and pain-points, then apply those insights into innovative and performant experiences.
    • Collaborate and Communicate: You’ll partner with Design, Product Managers, Research, and Engineering to navigate complex problems, and together you will drive projects from start to finish. By developing a deep product expertise, you will become a trusted partner to stakeholders, while ensuring that everyone impacted by your work is aligned throughout. Guide, inspire, and influence peers and team with exceptional communication, empathy and execution.

    You Have:

    • 5+ years in a UX or Product Design role leading design alongside your cross-functional peers in Product, Engineering and Research
    • You have a holistic approach to design, from high-level strategy to small design details
    • You’re a self-starter who is solution oriented, and you’re comfortable with defining, scoping and designing for new opportunities with and without the input of others
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to present your decisions and processes clearly and confidently
    • Enthusiasm for growth and improvement, openness to feedback, and ability to work well with other designers of all levels
    • Adaptability and excitement for working in a fast-paced environment
    • Solid visual craft with an eye for detail
    • Expert proficiency with Figma
