HireVue, the leading global provider of cloud-based software that powers skill-based talent acquisition, is currently searching for a Senior Director, User Experience to join our Product team, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer.

The User Experience leader and team is chartered with driving seamless, user-centered design, with scale and elevating the product experience.  The User Experience Leader will lead the development of a scalable design system, improve design processes, and ensure collaboration with product, engineering, and data science teams. Their focus will be on delivering user-centered solutions that enhance both usability and customer satisfaction, driving measurable business outcomes.  The role is a player/coach role with a starting team of four direct reports with areas to grow and develop the team.  A focus on developing new products that have both consumer (candidate) experience opportunities and enterprise talent team experiences.

The Senior Director of User Experience will be part of the Product & Technology leadership team, providing thought leadership and ownership on all design decisions.  Additional responsibilities include providing scaled processes to ensure high quality, consistent visual and interactive design, regular status reporting, UX initiative updates, and other responsibilities as assigned. 

The ideal candidate has experience in scaling SAAS organizations, is a motivated self-starter with leadership, management, collaboration, and communication capabilities that can work cross-functionally.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in user experience design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Cognitive Science, or Fine Arts preferred.

  • SaaS & Enterprise-Level UX

    • Experience in designing for SaaS platforms, particularly in complex enterprise environments.

    • Knowledge of user needs in B2B and B2C contexts, including considerations for scalability, integrations, and enterprise clients

  • Design Systems & Component Libraries

    • Proven experience in building and scaling design systems that ensure consistency across products.

    • Knowledge of how to create reusable components that integrate seamlessly into a product development process.

  • UX Research & User Testing

    • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including usability testing, A/B testing, and ethnographic research.

    • Ability to synthesize user feedback and data into actionable insights that inform design decisions.

  • Interaction Design (IxD) & Information Architecture (IA)

    • Expertise in creating intuitive and efficient user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.

    • Ability to structure and organize information effectively to ensure clear navigation and accessibility for users.

  • Agile & Lean UX

    • Experience working within agile frameworks, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to deliver design work in sprints.

    • Lean UX approaches to deliver iterative design solutions that evolve through continuous feedback loops.

  • Prototyping & Wireframing Tools

    • Mastery in using design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or InVision for wireframing, prototyping, and mockups.

    • Familiarity with tools for testing and sharing designs, such as Zeplin or Abstract.

  • Visual Design & UI

    • Strong understanding of visual design principles, including color theory, typography, layout, and branding.

    • Ability to ensure that the product’s visual design aligns with the brand while delivering a seamless user experience.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making & UX Analytics

    • Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Hotjar, or Mixpanel to analyze user behavior and make informed design choices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing high traffic websites.
  • Bachelor’s, Associate’s Degree and/or certificate in Marketing, Communications, User Experience, or a related field a plus.
  • Experience with image editing tools such as Adobe PhotoShop, XD, Figma, and/or Illustrator required.
  • Proven track record of experience publishing and curating content on websites (portfolios are highly preferred) 
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience in participation of defining value added platforms to support business initiatives.

    • Maintain and leverage our existing brand guidelines and evolve ways in which we apply those guidelines to our design outputs across new and existing categories and products
    • Craft hardworking assets for use across the organization like internal presentation, templates, business cards, and investor materials
    • Collaborate with our Copywriters to iterate on work and make sure that the assets clearly communicate the brief’s strategy both creatively and narratively.
    • Collaborate with Producers and Production Designers to bring complex print projects to life

     Scope of Services

    • This Contractor will be responsible for crafting user-centric solutions for Newsela’s platform (across mobile, desktop, and tablet).

    Skills / Experience

    • You have 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer working with complex user and business problems, understands feature requirements, and tech constraints, to create simple, engaging and scalable experiences.
    • Your skill sets span from user research and testing to wireframes and user-flows to high fidelity and prototyping. You are curious, data-informed and unsatisfied with “good enough.” You are energized by solving complex problems and approach design holistically; users are at the center of your process and that is evident in your approach and solutions. You skillfully balance multiple projects to deliver materials on time and within scope, and know how to source input for stakeholders across the company to align with business goals and overall brand guidelines.
    • You have demonstrated success in approaching patterns holistically and think about the larger experience.
    • You have a strong understanding of web and mobile-web platform technologies, and you keep in mind accessibility. You know when to use broad stroke sketches, use a design system, or when to apply pixel-perfect attention to detail.
    • Experience working in Figma as both a design and prototyping tool.
    • Understands the value and has worked with a Design System or has collaborated with one.
    • Knowledge of Visual Design and attention to detail when it comes to pixel-perfect design, and documentation for hand-off to Engineers.
    • You understand the value of working cross-functionally and have a collaborative mindset.     • Join a kick-off meeting about a new project with the Product Manager, Product Designer and UX Researcher who will be working with you on this one. You will go through business requirements and research findings, and set off to work on a copy strategy that will enhance the user’s experience.
    • Spend some uninterrupted work time to focus on writing, rewriting and writing again. You will ruthlessly edit and iterate on copy to be as simple as possible, but not simplistic. 
    • Add a new term in the terminology glossary and tweak the copy of a help text in the relevant Design System component.
    • 3+ years / proven work experience in writing UX copy as part of a user-centric design process

    About Role...
    Acquia is seeking a Lead Product Designer dedicated to crafting engaging digital experiences through simple, clear, and systematic design. You will journey through various stages of fidelity, from the initial problem statement and concept exploration to delivering design specifications developed into functional, reliable, and delightful user interfaces. You will collaborate and engage closely with product design, product, and engineering teams to deliver exceptional user-focused value.

    You will join a talented and diverse team of designers, researchers, content strategists, and service designers dedicated to helping Acquia grow its product portfolio.

    Responsibilities

    • Team Leadership: Ensure design colleagues have the information they need to complete projects.
    • Design Feedback: Provide feedback and on-the-job training to design team members. 
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables are delivered on time and to quality standards.
    • Design Integration: Support design efforts throughout Acquia’s product and service portfolio.
    • Proactive Contribution: Take on tasks proactively without needing direction from leadership.
    • Team Environment: Demonstrate a commitment to improving the team environment.
    • Artifact Creation: Produce a variety of design artifacts (user stories, journeys, wireframes, prototypes, testing summaries, and dev specifications) to guide product teams.
    • Collaboration: Facilitate cross-functional working and feedback sessions with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders.
    • User Advocacy: Champion user needs for usability and accessibility within cross-functional teams.
    • Design Methods: Promote human-centered design methods and best practices.
    • User Research Collaboration: Work with design researchers to fully understand customer needs and advocate for designs that address them.
    • Impact Measurement: Collaborate with Product teams to understand user problems, define requirements, and measure user satisfaction and impact.
    • Research Identification: Work with the broader team to identify research needs and customer experience improvement opportunities.
    • Prototype Testing: Create, collaborate, and run prototype tests to gather user data and mitigate bias.

    Required skills

    • Experience: 5+ years of experience with Product (UX/UI or other adjacent forms of) design; other relevant experience in adjacent fields considered.
    • Design Understanding: Thorough understanding of design thinking, user-centered design, interaction design, and heuristics.
    • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar tools.
    • User Engagement: Experience in prototype testing, user interviews, usability studies, or remote field studies.
    • Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively present the value of design solutions to various stakeholders.
    • Accessibility Awareness: Familiarity with accessibility standards and considerations.
    • Design Systems: Experience with or contribution to a design system.
    • Continuous Learning: Willingness to learn and embrace emerging technologies and approaches.
    • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.

    Extra Credit

    • SaaS Design: Experience designing SaaS products or services.
    • Development Practices: Familiarity with agile software development best practices and cloud architecture.
    • Enterprise Experience: Experience with enterprise software design/development.
    • Atomic Design: Experience with Atomic design.
