The Opportunity

This role is responsible for creating and implementing processes that will allow us to maintain engaged, educated customers - leading to happy customers who remain customers.

This role is also responsible for providing senior level support to team members Adoption, education, and support, both acting a leader and a peer in ensuring the best possible customer experience.

Key Accountabilities

The key accountabilities of this role encompass duties that principally relate to the job purpose and may include other duties that are incidental or peripheral to the job purpose.

Adoption:

  • Implement a communication plan for clients and enable the Adoption team to enact this plan.
  • Implement a client health ranking process and an associated communication plan related to rankings.
  • Maintain assignment of specific strategic clients to Adoption managers and work with Adoption managers to coordinate retention efforts of those clients.
  • Establish goals, standards and set expectations of performance and practices within the Adoption team.
  • This role also includes a provisional responsibility related to the adoption area which is to project manage client transitions between products.

Education:

  • Develop and curate content to present to customer base
  • Coordinate with Community Initiatives Manager to ensure effective advertising of education initiatives
  • Curate the Client Community site and work with the team to foster useful dialogue on that site.
  • Lead the Adoption and Education team that delivers product education and training to clients
  • Oversee the development and delivery of training, ensuring it meets client’s needs and drive adoption

Onboarding:

  • Manage the Onboarding process and team execution end to end - from the point a customer signs a contract for service until they are fully live and transitioned to support.
  • Conduct calls with onboarding project managers to ensure project timelines are on track, understand needs, and ensure milestones are progressing.
  • Work with the Solutions Architect team to create the project SOW and Project Plan and ensure sign-off from customer and internal stakeholders before proceeding with onboarding project.
  • Recognize critical red flags in client expectations and involve appropriate team members to evaluate and determine the best course of action.

Overall duties:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of team and provide leadership to its team members
  • Monitor work queues and balance team members workload to ensure productivity and quality standards
  • Communicate between regions and assist in coordinating activities across multiple departments
  • Review and report metrics and capacity planning to the Senior Director. Analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collect and provide product feedback to the product team.
  • Organize and schedule team resources to ensure adequate coverage for all projects.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports as well as lead recurring team meetings.
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer issues where necessary.
  • Guide and coach direct reports; give feedback and assess development, address employee issues; conduct employee performance appraisals.
  • Step in as needed with direct contributions to adoption, education, and onboarding work to support the team.

Key Result Areas

Performance objectives are based on the key accountabilities above and are aligned to organisational and team objectives. Individual performance measures and behavioral standards will be discussed and reviewed on a periodic basis in accordance with the Open LMS Performance Development Policy and Procedure.

Job Criteria

  • Extensive knowledge of Learning Management Systems (in particular Moodle)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification such as a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, or equivalent commercial experience
  • At least 2+ years experience in a client facing role
  • At least 1+ years experience in a management role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Passionate about customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions
  • A general understanding of technical elements of support function
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
  • Exceptional listening, written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Customer focused with an understanding that both internal and external customers require you to meet their needs in a professional and understanding manner.
  • Multi-lingual a plus (Spanish, Portuguese)

About our Machine Learning FinCrime Team:

Our Financial Crime Data team consists of over 25 people across 4 data specialisms: Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, Machine Learning Scientists and Data Scientists. As a Lead Machine Learning Scientist, you’ll be working in a fast moving environment, building and iterating on our financial crime defensive capabilities to ensure we keep Monzo and our customers safe. 

Our financial crime team has a large impact on Monzo’s bottom line as fraud and scams are usually some of the largest cost line items in a bank's P&L. We have a major influence on the overall customer experience and it’s our duty to keep our customers safe. The work we do results in directly measurable customer or company benefit, which is incredibly satisfying.

Our Machine Learning Scientists work on a range of problems within the different financial crime areas ranging from fraud detection and prevention, transaction monitoring for different types of suspicious activity through to customer risk assessment and operational tooling.

What you’ll be working on: 

A Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Monzo is a technical Individual Contributor (IC) leadership position. As a technical Machine Learning expert, working with billions of rows of data stored on a modern cloud native data platform, we’ll be expecting you to leverage your deep experience of developing and deploying advanced Machine Learning models to: 

  • Automatically and accurately detect suspicious user behaviours while minimising impact to genuine customers and operational costs
  • Adapt quickly and appropriately to changing fraud and financial crime trends, ensuring our detection systems remain performant through time. 

The technical approaches you take to help solve these problems will be very much in your hands and we’ll strongly encourage and support experimentation and innovation. We’ll be expecting you to justify and demonstrate effectiveness along the way, making sure the approach meets our business and customer needs.

Your day-to-day:   

As a technical individual contributor, you’ll be providing technical leadership and shipping highly impactful ML-based solutions. You’ll be embedded in a cross functional product squad, working closely with product managers, data scientists, backend engineers and designers in an agile environment. You’ll also be a technical leader within the Machine Learning discipline, helping to steer technical work and drive up standards. 

This will involve:

  • Working with stakeholders across the organization to identify and scope out the most impactful opportunities to tackle Financial Crime and Fraud with Machine Learning.
  • Leading the design and development of advanced real time Machine Learning models, for example exploring how neural network, graph-based, and sequence-based architectures can drive improvements in detection of financial crime.
  • Providing technical leadership to drive up levels of technical expertise and best practice across the Machine Learning discipline, leading by example and mentoring others.
  • Working closely with our MLOps team to steer the ongoing development of tools to enable rapid iteration of models and optimisations of the full ML model lifecycle.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $48,200 USD to $108,000 USD. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.

We are looking for someone with experience in designing, building, and maintaining a scalable and robust Data Infra that makes data easily accessible to the Data Science team and the broader audience via different tools. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, platform, and front-end engineers, defining requirements and designing new data processes for both streaming and batch processing of data, as well as maintaining and improving existing ones. You are responsible for developing the position of Tessenderlo Kerley International in the fertilizer market in Belgium and The Netherlands. You focus on the sales of Tessenderlo Kerley’s high quality crop nutrition products. You co-develop the sales strategy, collaborate on selected business development initiatives and deliver on sales volumes and margin targets. You develop excellent relationships with the distribution channels and selected farmers to provide precise plant nutrition solutions for sustainable agriculture. Also, together with your colleagues, you lead the technical-agronomical development to support sales growth.

Sales and agronomical responsibilities

  • Develop and propose sales- and development strategies, refine after alignment with the Marketing and Sales Director Europe and implement.
  • Gather deep knowledge of the market, developments in the value chain and competitor movements.
  • Identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators to grow sales and acquire new customers.
  • Identify opportunities and reinforce the value proposition of Tessenderlo Kerley’s crop nutrition solutions.
  • Propose distributor strategies, implement agreements and work closely with selected distributors to find win/win solutions on volumes and margins.
  • Propose and implement marketing and promotional activities to stimulate sales.
  • Accountable for administrative sales and technical tasks, for capturing data and responsible for demand forecasting and advice on demand planning.
  • Develop, maintain, update and actively utilize a network of technical & sales contacts to promote the technical and agronomical benefits of the solutions as to develop sales.
  • Provide technical support to customers (i.e. distributors, growers).

Budget

  • Prepare an annual sales and marketing budget and submit periodic reports as required by the hierarchical managers.

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage actively in relevant industry organizations, cross-functional associations and seminars/conventions/events that provide educational, networking and lead generation opportunities.
  • Identify and develop your network with new partners, customers, logistics providers, etc. and raise opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish relationships with the different players in the valuechain,  monitor their needs, detect markt trends, capture feedback from competitors’ and market evolution in order to evaluate the impact on the overall sales strategy.

Qualifications

Your profile

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Agronomy/Agriculture/Agricultural engineering (or equal by experience).
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years commercial experience or background in agriculture (experience in fertilizers or/and crop nutrition is a plus).
  • Comprehensive knowlegde of agricultural practice and main crops in the area (specific expertise in fertilizers management is a plus).
  • Knowledge of IT software: Microsoft 365 and social media channels (LinkedIn, …).
  • Required language: Dutch, English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
