Senior Manager of Engineering

About the role
As Senior Manager of Engineering, your greatest responsibility is to build high-performing teams that deliver real impact to our community. In this role, you will form teams and create a safe and high-trust environment for them to work in. You will ensure the team has a meaningful purpose and is building healthy engineering and team practices. You will coach the team on self-organization and challenge the team to continually improve and to not become satisfied with the status quo.
You will also take care of the people reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.
You will partner with Product, Analytics and Design to build and translate product strategy into technical delivery. You will work closely with your team and stakeholders to enable sustainable and timely delivery of technical solutions that address business needs and create positive impact for our community.
You will be a member of a management team that nurtures our engineering culture and collaborates to solve the biggest challenges facing the organization.
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of people management experience including performance management.
- You love developing and growing engineers across different disciplines and have a track record of doing so; you thrive when developing great people and teams, not just great products.
- You are passionate about teamwork and collaboration, while coaching and mentoring software engineers to deliver timely, high-quality software.
- You have experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in-line with company values in an iterative, agile environment.
- You have led complex engineering efforts, and know what it takes to deliver while still having a healthy team and have a track record of driving projects and working with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
- You have solid communication skills and are comfortable in managing conflict.
- You can balance business and technical needs to make timely trade-off decisions.
- You recognize the importance of building partnerships with peers across the company and are proactive in doing so.
Salary Range
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The career level we are targeting for this role has a base pay between $179,600 and $230,300. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. Base pay ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future.
