We currently seek a public relations specialist to join our public relations team. Fellowship Objective

Mercy For Animals seeks to host a global-policy legal fellow who will gain experience advocating for farmed animals and a just, sustainable food system at intergovernmental organizations, such as those within the United Nations system. This fellowship will build skills in legal research, writing, and analysis, as well as international policy advocacy. You will develop an understanding of international policy processes, such as those of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, United Nations Environment Programme, and World Organisation for Animal Health. Additionally, you will have opportunities to grow your network of advocates in this space and think creatively about novel strategies that leverage international law and policy to achieve advocacy objectives.

  • Conduct legal research, writing, and analysis in an international policy context

Mercy For Animals is deeply grateful to the Raskin family and the Tommy Raskin Memorial Fund for People and Animals, through the Greater Washington Community Foundation, for the chance to honor Tommy’s contributions through three paid legal internships. The Raskin legal interns will continue Tommy’s work to end one of the greatest causes of suffering: the exploitation of animals for food.

As a Raskin legal intern, you’ll help shape farmed animal protection law and gain invaluable legal advocacy experience to apply to your future work. You will assist on high-impact projects, such as campaigns, litigation, and policy work, while connecting directly with our team of attorneys to research and analyze federal, state, and local laws; draft memoranda; review undercover footage; execute campaigns; and assist with administrative and corporate governance tasks pertaining to general nonprofit administration and legal compliance. You’ll leave with hands-on experience in a wide variety of legal disciplines and insight into the field of animal protection.

After graduating with a master’s degree in animals and public policy from Tufts University in 2019, she transitioned her professional path to working in international policy for animals. She joined Mercy For Animals’ campaigns team in 2020 and firmly believes in the power of public campaigning to drive positive change for animals. Maha is passionate about effective teamwork and fostering strong, positive team dynamics. She values open communication, initiative, ownership, and creative problem-solving. She strongly encourages a healthy work-life balance for herself and team members. Internship Objective

  • Develop strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities with corporate leaders while strengthening existing relationships

  • Manage and process all donation data, ensuring its accurate and timely entry into Salesforce
